Inglemoor players should purchase helmets with the the following specifications: The following applies when changing helmets. If you already have a helmet, you are not required to replace it. You may purchase the next level up, if desired. For example, you may elect to purchase the CPV-R in place of the CS-R or purchase the the XRS in place of the CPV-R. However, any certified model and brand is acceptable in black, so long as it is a lacrosse helmet (hockey helmets are not allowed). Helmets must be NOCSAE certified and also recertified every 3 years (see below for details).

Recertification:

  • Recertification is a process in which the helmet is inspected and tested to ensure it still meets NOCSAE safety standards.
  • Helmets have a 10 year allowable lifespan. Check the manufacture date inside your helmet to determine when your helmet needs to be replaced. This is critical, especially if you purchased your helmet used. The Cascade R will start to phase out beginning spring 2023.
  • Continental Athletic Supply is a vendor on the west coast that is authorized to recondition and recertify lacrosse helmets to NOCSAE standards. Their service includes: cleaning, sanitizing, inspecting helmets for cracks or other defects, replacing faulty parts (if available, cost of parts extra), recertification to NOCSAE standards, and installation of new NOCSAE recertification sticker.
  • Cost is $39 for the recertification service plus about $25 for return shipping. You will also pay about $25 to ship the helmet to them. You'll want to weigh the cost of recertification (~$89) against buying a new helmet. If you don't think your helmet will pass recertification, save yourself the cost of shipping the helmet to them.
